Afterschool Celebration and Ribbon Cutting

Ceremony on Oct.24th at 4pm

On October 24th, 2008 the YMCA had a Ribbon Cutting ceremony at Madison Elementary for the merger of the YMCA with the Ogden CARES After-School Programs.  The ceremony welcomed the YMCA to the Ogden area in support of kids, families and communities.  Dave Hardman, the chairman of the Ogden Chamber of Commerce, the “Spikers” and Noel Zabriskie, superintendent of Ogden City Schools, took part in welcoming the YMCA to Ogden.   Noel Zabriskie is excited with the partnership that the YMCA and Ogden City Schools will have by housing the YMCA After-School programs in the Ogden schools.

In conjunction with the ribbon cutting, a “Site Celebration” took place where students from Madison Elementary were able to experience an after school program.  The children got a snack, and participated in face-painting, crafts, sports, music, dance and a variety of games.  Over 270 children attended and participated in this event.  The YMCA looks forward to hosting more events like this one.
